"If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail."
- Abraham Maslow ( American Psychologist)

Life can be hectic and overwhelming with very little time to reflect on your own thoughts, feelings and emotions.
It can become scary with no one to turn to.

It has been said there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

Are you looking for a therapist that can help you take back control of your life? Counselling can be an extremely powerful tool in helping you get back to a good place.

Hello and welcome to Clear Thoughts Therapy, and thank you for visiting my website.
My name is Richard Caldwell and I am a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Ruislip, and the Liverpool Street area in the City of London.
I am also a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)*

Seeking a counsellor can also be a daunting and unfamiliar experience.
Therefore I offer a friendly approach that is in a safe and confidential environment, and providing the platform and comfort to explore yourself and achieve your goals.

I offer a professional psychotherapy and counselling service covering the following areas:

  • City of London
  • Liverpool Street
  • Canary Wharf
  • Bank
  • Shoreditch
  • Moorgate
  • Old Street
  • Farringdon
  • Ruislip
  • Pinner
  • Moor Park
  • Northwood
  • Eastcote
  • Hillingdon
  • Uxbridge

    Why do we seek therapy?
    Anxiety levels high and frequent.
Experiences of low moods and/or suffering from depression.
Feelings of low self esteem and lacking confidence.
    Difficulties experienced at work.
    Managing stress related situations.
    Coping with bereavement.
    Overwhelmed by an historical trauma.
    Constant negative thoughts.

In life, we all experience things that can be overwhelming or difficult to face alone. This leads to patterns of behaviour and negative thoughts that keep us back from being able to grow, both personally and professionally. Nothing is more exhausting than battling these feelings on a daily basis and not knowing what to do.

"The conscious mind may be compared to a fountain playing in the sun and falling back into the great subterranean pool of subconscious from which it rises".
    - Sigmund Freud (founder of psychoanalysis)

The benefit of talking to a professionally-trained counsellor / psychotherapist is that unlike a member of your family or close friend, I can offer you an objective, non-judgemental opinion. I can help you to find the answers to what it is that’s troubling you. And I can support you in getting to a place where you need to be, where you can just be you.

The counselling sessions are for you, to use in a way that is hopefully beneficial to you. I will offer space to talk and be heard. New ways of seeing yourself and where you are in life can emerge. These might initially cause pain; a supportive therapeutic relationship can facilitate the expression of pain and loss, and help manage distressing relationship issues of unpleasant feelings, behaviour or thoughts.

Wherever you're based or can meet - from Liverpool Street and the City of London to Ruislip, Pinner and the surrounding areas - and are feeling overwhelmed on a daily basis and unsure of which way to turn, please feel free to contact me (on the relevant links) for a confidential discussion about the issues you’re facing and how I may be able to help you.
Just to re-emphasise, all discussions will be in confidence.

Counselling will take place in Ruislip or the City of London (Liverpool Street, E1).
Both my counselling rooms in Ruislip and Liverpool Street provide a warm setting that allow you to feel relaxed and comfortable to explore yourself.

The Ruislip practice is within easy reach of Pinner, Northwood, Moor Park, Eastcote, Hillingdon and Uxbridge.
City of London practice (Bank / Liverpool Street / Shoreditch) is 2 mins from Liverpool Street overground and underground station)
