Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist. What this means is that together we will explore your past experiences and how they affect your relationship to, and experience of the present. Many of our thoughts are deep rooted in to our minds which have yet to be processed. It's about making the unconscious conscious, with the goal of breaking down the bonds of the past in order to live more fully in the present. By working this way allows you to discover the source of the problem that you are encountering.
This exploration can be a journey of self discovery, but a journey that doesn't need to be taken alone. I will offer empathy whilst being non-judgemental in a warm friendly manner, and an approach that is simple and down to earth.
I also work using the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) approach.
This method will support the Psychodynamic work stated above, and in a collaborative way, we would explore your behaviour, emotions and feelings and how they are interpreted by your own thoughts. We would make aware of any dysfunctional or negative thoughts, and unlearn these ways of thinking to more rational and positive cognitive methods.
I am experienced in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with :
- Panic Attacks
- Low self confidence / self esteem
- OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
- Anger Management
- PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
