"If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail."
- Abraham Maslow ( American Psychologist)

Life can be hectic and overwhelming with very little time to reflect on your own thoughts, feelings and emotions. It can become scary with no one to turn to. Are you looking for a therapist that can help you take back control of your life? Or do you need help in managing your situation through the current Coronavirus pandemic? Counselling can be an extremely powerful tool in helping you get back to a good place.
Hello and welcome to Clear Thoughts Therapy, and thank you for visiting my website.
My name is Richard Caldwell and I am a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Ruislip, City of London (Liverpool Street, Shoreditch), Central London (Baker Street, W1).
I am also a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)*

Seeking a counsellor can also be a daunting and unfamiliar experience. It has been said there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. Therefore I offer a friendly approach that is in a safe and confidential environment, and providing the platform and comfort to explore yourself and achieve your goals.
The benefit of talking to a professionally-trained counsellor / psychotherapist is that unlike a member of your family or close friend, I can offer you an objective, non-judgemental opinion. I can help you to find the answers to what it is that’s troubling you, and I can support you in getting to a place where you need to be, where you can just be you.
As a very motivated psychotherapist, I have the passion, in helping you to bring about change and experiencing your full potential. We would also take the opportunity to figure out what makes you fulfilled and gives you purpose in life.
The counselling sessions are for you, to use in a way that is hopefully beneficial to you. I will offer space to talk and be heard. New ways of seeing yourself and where you are in life can emerge. These might initially cause pain; a supportive therapeutic relationship can facilitate the expression of pain and loss, and help manage distressing relationship issues of unpleasant feelings, behaviour or thoughts.
I believe the relationship between counsellor / psychotherapist and client is a vehicle for growth.

I offer a professional psychotherapy and counselling service covering the following areas:
City of London (Liverpool Street, Shoreditch, Canary Wharf, Moorgate, Old Street, Farringdon), Central London, W1 ( Baker Street, Marylebone), and Ruislip (Pinner, Moor Park, Northwood, Eastcote, Hillingdon, Uxbridge).

Why do we seek therapy?
Anxiety levels high and frequent.
Experiences of low moods and/or suffering from depression.
Feelings of low self esteem and lacking confidence.
Difficulties experienced at work.
Managing stress related situations.
Coping with bereavement.
Overwhelmed by an historical trauma.
Constant negative thoughts.

In life, we all experience things that can be overwhelming or difficult to face alone. This leads to patterns of behaviour and negative thoughts that keep us back from being able to grow, both personally and professionally. Nothing is more exhausting than battling these feelings on a daily basis and not knowing what to do.

"The conscious mind may be compared to a fountain playing in the sun and falling back into the great subterranean pool of subconscious from which it rises".
- Sigmund Freud (founder of psychoanalysis)
